This position integrates medical assistant knowledge with computer science and information systems for health care providers using the electronic medical records.
Responsibilities:
- Works in conjunction with coders to ensure that the health care providers are documenting and billing appropriately for laboratory procedures, EKG’s, casts, splints, injections, suture removal and various specialty skills.
- Acts as a chaperone for health care providers during patient examination and assists with procedures, ensuring that the Electronic Medical Record is efficiently and accurately being used.
- May assist patient and family education by providing educational material and general health information using the Electronic Medical Record.
- Performs administrative clinic duties to ensure that health care providers are following the hospital policies and procedure.
- Translates and communicates clinical needs to information technology staff and works to develop appropriate solutions.
- Conducts quality assurance testing prior to solution deployment to ensure functionality is working as designed.
- Provides support to outpatient clinicians during training, go live and after go live to ensure utilization of the solution is correct.

- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
- Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.
- Ability to lead discussions with both small and large groups of people.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated computer skills, phlebotomy, lab specimen handling and processing skills.
Qualifications:
Required
- Three years experience working with electronic health records.
- Completion of a certified Medical Assistant Program or current certification as an EMT-Intermediate in the State of Utah.
All of the following license(s)
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association or obtain within one month of hire.
